Club changed hands and name in last year. Now called Palmilla Beach Club. I have played here several times since it opened and always enjoy it. It is a links style course, built in the dunes and along the beach of the Gulf of Mexico in Port Aransas Texas. When the wind is really blowing it can be very difficult to control your ball but the fairways are generously wide. Fairways and greens were in excellent condition. A fun golf course that truly reminds me of the best links courses in Scotland and Ireland. Definitely worth a trip, especially if you take the Aransas ferry to get to the island. You might even see a few dolphins.

This probably the closest you will get to a true links course in Texas, or for that matter in the U.S., with the exception of those in Bandon. I never had a bad lie in the fairways, and like links courses you are in fairways or bad rough, but the fairways are wide. They have to be with the wind in the area. But as the Scots say nay wind nay golf. The course would be a touch easy without the wind. If you get a chance to play Newport, do so.

Outstanding layout and condition with views of the Gulf from some holes. Don't understand why more people don't seem to know about this course. Playable for most anyone because of multiple tees. A real hidden gem!

This is a great links style course. We played in February and the greens were awesome, very fast. The rest of the course was in great shape. A very challenging layout worth playing. The clubhouse, Pro shop is in a temporary building but this is a really great golf course to play. Good practice facilities also.
